On March 21, 2025, Avalyn visited her old primary school. She shared the tale of Star Dizzy Lizzy with pupils in the Chaffinches, Robins, and Sparrows classes (Reception and Year One).

Avalyn Storytime

A Journey Down Memory Lane

Avalyn began her session by introducing herself to each class. She reminisced about her time at the school. The students laughed when she pointed out her picture still displayed in the school reception area. She spoke about Star Dizzy Lizzy and the inspiration behind writing it.

"Avalyn was an absolute natural. She kept all the children completely engrossed for the entire story. They loved the lovely activity she brought. Her book had beautiful illustrations and friendly language to accompany a heartwarming tale. She answered the children's questions and engaged graciously with their curiosity. The kids were drawn to her warmth and kindness. They didn't want to let her leave!"

An Engaging Activity

Avalyn created activity sheets to share with each class. She encouraged the children to think about what Lizzy's next adventure might be. The students drew their versions of Lizzy's adventure.

The children shared ideas about adventures on farms, trips to the beach, and even journeys into space. Avalyn enjoyed discussing their imaginative creations and encouraging their creativity.

A Memorable Experience

"Avalyn visited our Reception and Year 1 classes last week. She shared her beautiful book Star Dizzy Lizzy. It was an absolute delight to hear the wonderful tale as the children were captivated by the adventure and the stunning illustrations. Avalyn has a kind demeanour and expertly answered the students' numerous questions about her story. The children were thrilled to receive their own copies of Dizzy Lizzy and loved completing the activities she prepared. It was a fabulous treat! Thank you, Avalyn."
