Avalyn visits Wincham Primary School in Northwich

Avalyn recently visited Wincham Community Primary School (twice) to read with the children and share the story of why she created Star Dizzy Lizzy. In June she visited and spent time with the Rabbits, Grasshoppers and Squirrels classes (KS1). She ended up reading to all three classes at once!

All the kids were so lovely and had some really interesting questions to ask. Such creative ideas in this group. I was so excited to see what adventures they came up with for Lizzy.

Avalyn had a great time exploring what they thought Lizzy should do next.

A few weeks later she went back to deliver and sign the books the children had purchased and she was invited to spend some time with the Owls and Foxes classes (Reception).

Today, got to go back to a school I read at recently!! Before, I had worked with the year 1 and the year 2 classes. Today, I signed all of the books they purchased and also spent some time with the reception kids. We read the book like always and did the activity sheet. We all had a very good time!! I'm so grateful they invited me back to work with this class 🌟

This group of children loved the story as well and had so many great ideas to share, some of them had created their own story books to share with Avalyn.

Our Reception and KS1 children were delighted to meet a real author! Some of them even made books to show Avalyn in advance, some made them after, due to being so inspired by her visit. Avalyn was kind and warm with the children, investing time and enthusiasm to answer their questions and see their drawings and ideas using her worksheet prompt. The pupils who ordered signed books were ecstatic - Avalyn took the time to write personal dedications to them and they couldn’t wait to start reading.

What a brilliant young talent she is! A natural with children as well! We look forward to welcoming Avalyn back again next year.
